A week ago the NFL’s 32 teams selected 254 college athletes to join their football teams. After three days and seven rounds of choosing, here are the top five draft picks of the 2013 draft.

The first pick of this year’s draft was offensive tackle for Central Michigan University, Eric Fisher. This 6’ 7” – 306lb, mountain of a man was recognized as a second-team All-American by Sports Illustrated. The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t waste time selecting him.

Luke Joeckel, another offensive tackle who played for Texas A&M, was the second pick. Luke was a starter for every game during his three years At Texas A&M. Let’s hope he does as well in the NFL playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The former Oregon Duck defensive end and outside linebacker, Dion Jordan, was the next to be drafted. Even with a surgery to repair a torn labrum on February 23rd, the Miami Dolphins saw something special in him and made him the third selection overall.

Oklahoma’s Lane Johnson, who was (wait for it … Yes!) another offensive tackle, played three seasons with the Sooners. The Philadelphia Eagles used their first selection making Johnson the fourth draft pick of the evening.

Rounding out the top 5 was Ezekiel Ansah, a Defensive end for BYU Cougars. Ansah wasn’t even on any of the 2012 preseason mock drafts but by mid-season he had moved up to a possible first round pick. Ezekiel was heralded as this year's “sleeper pick” by some analysts and apparently Detroit agreed as the Lions drafted him for their 2013 lineup.

Congratulations to all the players selected in the 78th NFL Draft. Fanfare would like to wish all of them a long and prosperous professional career.
